DeLorme Wyoming Atlas & Gazetteer
Topo maps of all of the state enhanced with shaded relief to emphasize the mountains.  Color tints give you the general coverage of lands administered by the National Park Service, National Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and Wyoming State Lands. About 60 quad maps with elevation contours show roads, railroads, major power lines, woodlands, lakes, quarries, campgrounds, parks and reserves, and much more.  The quads are referenced with GPS grids.

Charts give information on national lands, fishing, dude & guest ranches, state parks, and campgrounds.  Five pages are specially devoted to Yellowstone National Park, with information on campgrounds, natural features, fishing, hiking, and three pages of more detailed maps of the park. Other pages in the Gazetteer highlight annual events, unique natural features, hiking, and historic sites and museums.  Two pages of small range maps show the distribution of game birds and big game mammals.  There is also a comprehensive index which helps you locate the place names in the atlas.

Scale of quad maps,  1:250,000 (1 inch = about 4 miles).  Contour interval = 300 feet.  Size: about 11 x 15½ inches.  72 pages.  Paperback book.

GTR Topographic Recreational Map of Wyoming
Detailed road map, printed on two sides, showing more than 400 recreation sites, with 300 points of interest listed.  The map of the entire state is printed on one side.  The topography is shown by means of contours at 1000 foot intervals, and this is enhanced by color tints to emphasize the elevations.  This color tinting in combination with the tints used for showing parks and forests can make things look a little busy, but despite that drawback, it packs a lot of information on to the map.

Besides clearly distinguishing the different classes of highways, the map shows more dirt local roads than typically seen on a single-sheet state road map.  Point to point distances along major and secondary highways are indicated in miles.  While most road maps show rivers, creeks and lakes, this one shows many more of them, and with names as well.  The boundaries of National Forests or Grasslands, Wilderness Areas, National Park System units (parks, monuments, recreation areas and historic sites), State Parks or Recreation Areas, counties, Indian Reservations, and military bases are marked.  Also shows airports, campgrounds (distinguished by managing agency), picnic grounds, rest areas, ski areas, mining districts, points of interest, and more.

On the reverse side is an index to cities and towns, plus a wealth of lists and charts and/or brief descriptions covering National Parks, National Wildlife Refuges, Wilderness Areas, Points of Interest, State Parks, State Historic Sites, Ski Areas, State Game & Fish Areas, Mountains, Recreation Sites, National Forests, and Mining Districts.

Scale, 1:792,000 (1 inch = 12.5 miles).  Size: 37 x 24 inches.  Folded.  Paper.

Rand McNally Montana Wyoming State Map
Standard good quality Rand McNally with roads and towns clearly depicted (see sample at right).  The map of both states is on one side.  Shows National Parks and Forests, Indian Reservations, campgrounds, rest areas, and more.   In addition, there is an index to counties, cities, and towns; a mileage chart; and a list of airports.

On the reverse side is travel information for each state.  This includes seven city detail maps which show the primary streets of Billings, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, Missoula, Casper, and Cheyenne.  Two other small maps show details of Waterton-Glacier Int'l Peace Park; and Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks.  There are also two charts showing the amenties of each state park system.  There are also descriptions of points of interest.  A small schematic chart shows a mileage and driving times map extending down through from Calgary, Alberta to Tucson, Arizona.

Scale, about 1:1,381,250;  1 inch = about 21.8 miles.  Size: about 36½ x 25½ inches.  Folded.

Time Traveler Maps The Colorado Plateau: Map & Guide to Public Lands on the Colorado Plateau & its Borderlands
Excellent detailed road and display map printed on two sides.  The map itself is on one side and is decorative, strikingly detailed, and functional.  The Colorado Plateau is, in general, the highlands of southeastern Utah, Colorado west of the higher Rocky Mountains, northwestern New Mexico, and northern Arizona.  Accordingly, the map shows all of Utah, southwestern Wyoming, western Colorado, northwestern New Mexico, and northern Arizona east of Lake Mead.  Finely detailed shaded relief shows the form of the mountain ranges and canyons, a green tint emphasizes the higher mountains, and a white tint marks the highest peaks.  Major and minor roads are clearly distinguished (though no mileages are provided).  The maps also shows National Parks and Monuments, Historic Sites, Tribal Parks, and National Forests; public campgrounds and state parks; and numerous cities and towns.

On the reverse side is a travel guide with separate charts listing the facilities and activities of the parks, monuments, and recreation areas for each major state shown: Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico, including a few places not actually on the Plateau.  This side is also richly decorated with many small color photos and paintings featuring area sites, culture, and plant and animal life.  There is also general information about visiting the region, and a list of contact phone numbers and websites for further information.

Scale, 1:1,250,000 (1 inch = about 20 miles).  Size: about 26 x 36 inches.  Folded.  Paper.
