Elevation contours every 100 feet, accented with shaded relief, give an idea of the form of the land. Shows swamps, creeks, rivers, lakes, and ponds, with woodlands indicated by a green tint. Depicts roads of all classes, including local and county roads, and even many trails; also shows railroads (active and abandoned) and powerlines. Other features mapped include county boundaries, airports, dams, mine shafts, gravel or sand pits, public campgrounds, windmills, gaging stations, downhill skiing, golf courses, information centers, and spectator sports.
There are additional map features shown which are described in more detail in the Gazetteer portion. These include 12 pages of charts and brief paragraphs covering the topics of Outdoor Adventures (Hiking, Biking, Paddling), Unique Natural Features, Fishing (Streams, Lakes, Great Lakes), Hunting, Recreation Areas, Campgrounds, and Family Outings. A map of the full state is provided along with a mileage chart, as well. There is also a four-page index which helps you locate the place names in the atlas.
