USGS State of Utah Topographic Shaded-relief Wall Map
Large, detailed shaded relief map of the state gives the topography on the flat map the illusion of three dimensions.   Also shows elevation contours.  Features depicted include lakes, rivers, streams, and washes, cities and towns, and major and minor roads, railways, airports, state and national parks, national forests, and wilderness areas.  Great Salt Lake is shown with historic high, low, and average water levels.  Elevations of selected peaks are indicated in feet.  The map shows section lines, and is gridded with latitude/longitude lines at one degree intervals and the UTM grid at 50,000 meters.

No detail is shown beyond the state boundaries.

Scale, 1:500,000 (1 inch = about 8 miles).  Contour interval: 500 feet.  Size: about 39½ x 47½ inches.  Rolled.  Paper.
Published by the US Geological Survey, 1988.  New.
Item #USGS-UT-SHADED.  Shipping weight: 2.5 lbs.  Publisher’s price: $9.00.  Your price: $7.00  (Out of stock; unlikely to restock this year)

USGS Utah NED Color Shaded Relief Wall Map
Topographically detailed map with few place names makes use of the National Elevation Dataset to provide computer-generated shaded relief.  This process reveals the topography in extraordinary sharpness.  Different elevation levels are tinted at different hues, but although there is a key to elevations which defines the levels at 500 foot intervals, the differences are, in fact, so subtle as to be indistinguishable.  Lakes and major rivers are shown, but no creeks or minor rivers.  The only place names on the map are those of the major rivers, and, by my count, eleven key cities, marked more to help orient you more than anything else.  The map shows no roads or railroads; lakes, mountains and valleys are not labeled, no parks or forest boundaries are shown.  There are no elevation contours.  This is a map to buy strictly as a model of the bare physical features of the state and/or for its decorative value.

No detail is shown beyond the state boundaries.  Latitude-longitude tick marks are indicated at one degree intervals at the state boundary (but no grid).  Explanatory text at the bottom describes the National Elevation Dataset; there are also labeled illustrations of state symbols and facts (flag, animal, bird, tree, and flower).

Scale, 1:650,000 (1 inch = about 10 miles).  Size: about 32½ x 43½ inches.  Rolled.  Paper.
