US National & Regional Road Maps & Atlases
MapArt Road Atlas: Canada / USA / Mexico 2007Great atlas with MapArt’s usual high standards. As can be expected from a Canadian publisher, the coverage of Canadian provinces is greater than you usually see in road atlases published in the USA, and gives just a little less coverage to them than to US states. Coverage of Mexico is limited to a two-page spread. The maps use shaded relief to show mountainous regions—something the Rand McNally's don't do. Major and secondary roads are clearly distinguished, with point-to-point distances shown in kilometers (on Canadian maps) or miles (on the USA maps). The maps also show parks, campgrounds, ferry routes, airports, and more. One feature that is particularly useful is that when maps span two pages there is often a small overlap at the center, so that you can still see detail that would otherwise be lost in the binding.
There are over 170 detail maps showing the major streets of metropolitan areas of Canada and the U.S. The map legend is written in both English and French. An extensive detailed index for finding place names in the atlas is included.

Rand McNally The Road Atlas 2008: United States / Canada / MexicoNew edition of Rand McNally's clear, large-format road atlas. Detailed coverage for each US state varies from one to eight pages each. Not only are there road maps of each state, but insets in each state section show important highways and throughfares for major cities, and often full street details of downtown or other important sections of major cities; National Park details are shown for states which have popular parks. Different classes of roads are clearly distinguished, and point to point distances between junctions along important highways are indicated in miles. Also shows rest areas, waysides, airports, points of interest, campgrounds, and more. The 2008 edition shows marks constuction zones with a special tint (areas to avoid or expect delays). Rand McNally editors have also flagged certain highways as Best of the Road—places you might especially want to travel to. Special color tints mark Indian reservations, National Forests, National Parks, and military bases.
Canada is covered in eleven pages in the same style and detail as the US state maps, with similar city insets. Only one page is devoted to Mexico, and even this page is shared by an inset map of the US commonwealth Puerto Rico. A comprehensive index helps you locate counties, cities, and towns, and lists their populations. Throughout the atlas, there are web references which help you find additional information about the area coded on the publisher's website.

Rand McNally The Road Atlas 2008: Deluxe Midsize (United States / Canada / Mexico)Although the pages and the maps in this atlas are smaller than the other Rand McNally road atlas we stock, many find the smaller format and the spiral binding of this one more convenient. About the first 100 pages of this book is devoted to cities, and each city entry is arranged alphabetically. The city entry includes a small map of major streets of the area, and includes a brief description. There is also a list of selected attractions (with addresses and phone numbers), shopping areas, and visitor information contacts.
The city section is followed by a two-page spread of the United States showing Interstate and US highways. This is followed by the US state map section. Each state in this section gets one page, with the exception of California, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas, which each get two pages. This, of course, means that small states such as Delaware and Connecticut get portrayed in more detail than larger ones such as Alaska or Montana, and even the two-page states such as California.
This is followed by a two-page spread showing the major highways of Canada. The next ten pages cover the more populated southern halves of Canadian provinces, and are arranged from west to east. The last regular map page shows Mexico, Mexico City, and Puerto Rico. With so much area on just one page, this map page is not much use for travel, but is useful for general reference. The atlas includes a page of US state and Canadian province tourist agencies, with phone numbers and web addresses. there is also a full-page mileage chart and a mileage and driving times map.

Rand McNally, Quick Reference United States AtlasThis is not a road atlas, but is a reference work for students, households, businesses, or anyone who wants to know the geography of the country but doesn’t need to know the designations of the highways. Each state is given a full page, regardless of size, so scale varies widely. The maps show cities and towns; National Parks, Monuments and Recreation Areas; Indian Reservations; counties; lakes and rivers; and selected high points with elevations in meters. Major highways are shown, but only interstates are numbered. Shaded relief is used to show the form of the hills and mountains. Lines of latitude and longitude are provided, the interval depending on the scale of the individual state map.
There is also a one page map of North America, a two-page spread of the whole country (except Hawaii), and another two-page map of the full country showing the major highways (this time all numbered and this time also including Hawaii).
A seven page index helps you locate the features included in the atlas.
