Printed on one side only, the map employs elevation contours to show the form of the land.  Color tints distinguish managing land agency: Orange shows Indian lands, violet National Park, and green for National Forest (with darker green for designated Wilderness).  Brown  dots show sandy places.  Shows rivers, creeks, washes, springs, wells, and lakes.  Township and section lines are marked.  Roads of all classes are depicted (with US and state highways, and Indian Reservation and Forest Service roads numbered).  Shows major power lines, pipelines, wind mills, landing strips, railways, corrals, campgrounds and more.  (See sample below.)

Cities, towns, and communities in the region include Desert View, The Gap, Moenave, Tuba City, and Moenkopi.  Most of the area is within the Navajo Indian Reservation.  At the left side of the map is a portion of Grand Canyon National Park, plus part of Kaibab National Forest.  Major highways through the region include US 89, US 160, state 264, and state 64.  The entire region is within Coconino County.

Major physical features include Kaibab Plateau, Walhalla Plateau, eastern Grand Canyon, Marble Canyon, Limestone Ridge, Little Colorado River Gorge, Colorado River, Bodaway Mesa, Red Point Hills, Cornfield Valley, Hamblin Wash, Echo Cliffs, Mormon Ridges, Crooked Ridge, Preston Mesa, Kaibito Plateau, Ward Terrace, Moenkopi Wash, Tohnali Mesa, and Moenkopi Plateau.
