Rand McNally Tennessee road map
Standard road map printed on two sides. The map of the full state is printed on one side, and covers a little less than half of this side of the sheet. Major and secondary highways and local roads are readily distinguished. Point-to-point distances along major and secondary roads are indicated in miles. Shows county boundaries, national and state parks, National Forests, campgrounds, rest areas and wayside parks, military reservations, points of interest, airports, information centers, and more. Roads and towns in portions of adjacent states are also mapped, though in less detail. (See map sample at right.)Insets show shaded relief maps of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and vicinity, and Cumberland Gap National Historic Park; these maps are supplemented by several paragraphs of visiting information about each place. There is also a comprehensive index to counties, cities, and towns; a mileage chart; a list of welome centers; and call numbers and tuning frequencies for clear-channel and public radio stations.
On the reverse side is additonal visiting information, with eight small maps showing major streets and highways of Chattanooga, Jackson, Nashville, Clarksville, Knoxville, Gatlinburg, Memphis, and the "Tri-Cities" area of Kingsport, Bristol, and Johnson City. Each map is complemented by short paragraphs describing some of the attractions to see in each area. In addition, there is a chart of state parks listing contact information, size, and recreational features; plus a list of airports, and a schematic mileage and drive-time map showing the central portion of the eastern US.
