The only towns or communities within this region are Hunt and St. Johns. The southern part of Petrified Forest National Park is outlined. A small portion of the Zuni Indian Reservation is in the northeast corner of the map. Major highways through the area are Interstate 40 (a strip in the northeast corner less than six miles long), US 180, US 191, state 61, alt 180, and the unnumbered road through the National Park. Most of the map is within Apache County, though the left side is in Navajo County, and the eastern inch-and-a-half strip that is in New Mexico is divided among McKinley, Valencia, and Catron counties.Major physical features in the region are the Puerco River, Puerco Ridge, Little Colorado River, Hay Hollow Draw, Potter Mesa, Hunt Valley, Black Ridge, Stinking Springs Mountain, Zuni River, Hardscrabble Wash, Carrizo Wash, Aguaje Draw, and Jaralosa Draw.
