Printed on one side only, the map employs elevation contours to show the form of the land.  Different color tints show land management agency: Yellow for BLM (with darker yellow for wilderness study areas and wilderness), violet for National Park Service, blue for State Lands, and orange for Native American reservations.  Private lands are untinted.  Shows rivers, streams, creeks, washes, springs, and lakes.  Township and section lines are marked.  Roads of all classes are depicted (with US and state highways numbered).  Shows major power lines, landing strips, recreation sites, and more.  (See sample below.)

The only community on the map is Glen Canyon City.  Glen Canyon National Recreation Area dominates the lower right and center portion.  Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument dominates the upper part of the map.  A small part of the Navajo Reservastion is at lower right.  US 89 and state 277 are the only important highways through the area.  Most is within Kane County, but the lower right corner is part of San Juan County.  A narrow strip of not much more than 1/8th inch across the bottom is within Coconino County, Arizona.

Important physical features include Paria River, Rush Beds, Cottonwood Creek, The Cockscomb, Horse Flat, Wahweap Creek, East Clark Bench, Paradise Canyon, Smoky Mountain, Burning Hills, Last Chance Creek, Rogers Canyon, Kaiparowits Plateau, Fiftymile Mountain, Straight Cliffs, Fiftymile Bench, Coyote Gulch, Grand Bench, Cummings Mesa, and these portions of Lake Powell: Wahweap Bay, Warm Creek Bay, Gunsight Bay, Padre Bay, Last Chance Bay, Friendship Cove, and Rock Creek Bay.

Scale, 1:100,000 (1 inch = about 1.6 miles).  Contour interval = 50 meters.  Size: about 43½ x 27 inches.  Folded.  Paper.
