Printed on one side only, the map employs elevation contours to show the form of the land.  Color tints show surface management status, i.e. the managing government agencies of public lands.  Distinguishes Forest Service, National Park Service, and BLM ownership (with a darker tint showing Wilderness Areas), Indian Lands or Reservations, and State lands; private lands are untinted.  Shows lakes, rivers, creeks, washes, springs,  and tanks (stock ponds).  Township and section lines are marked.  Roads of all classes are depicted (with US and state highways numbered).  Shows major power lines, pipelines, quarries, campgrounds, trailheads, picnic areas and more.  (See sample below.)

Cities, towns, and communities within the region include Sedona, Red Rock, Oak Creek, Page Springs, Bridgeport, Cornville, Middle Verde, Camp Verde, Clear Creek, McGuireville, Lake Montezuma, Rimrock, Munds Park, Mormon Lake, Stoneman Lake, Happy Jack, and Clints Well.  Most of the region is within Coconino National Forest, though parts of Prescott and Sitgreaves national forests are also covered.  Within these are Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness, Munds Mountain Wilderness, Wet Beaver Wilderness, and West Clear Creek Wilderness.  Montezuma Catle National Monument and Red Rock State Park are also marked.

Major highways through the area are Interstate 17, US 89A, state 279, state 179, and state 87.  About 80% of the map is within Coconino County, the remaining 20% within Yavapai County.

The most important physical features shown include Secret Mountain, Oak Creek Canyon, House Mountain, Verde River, Black Hills, West Clear Creek, Mormon Mountain, Mormon Lake, Stoneman Lake, Kinnikinick Canyon, Grapevine Canyon, Canyon Diablo, Tremaine Lake, Chavez Mountain, Jacks Canyon, Willow Valley, and East Clear Creek.
