Printed on one side only, the map employs elevation contours to show the form of the land.  A solid green tint shows the extent of woodlands; green dots show brushy areas.  Brown dots show sandy areas.  Shows reservoirs, creeks, washes, wells, and  springs.  Township and section lines are marked.  Roads of all classes are depicted (but only US and state highways are numbered).  Shows major power lines, pipelines, wind mills, mines, landing strips, corrals, and more.  (See sample below.)

Towns and communities on the map include Dennehotso, Tes Nez Iah, Rock Point, Round Rock, Red Mesa, Teec Nos Pos, Beclabito, and Red Rock.  The entire region is within the Navajo Reservation.  The major highways passing through include US 160, US 191, and state 504.  All but an inch-and-a-half strip on the eastern border, and a pencil-line thick strip on the top border are within Arizona's Apache County; the east side is within San Juan County, New Mexico, most of the top edge is within San Juan County, Utah, and an even smaller part is within Colorado, at the Four Corners.

Major physical features on this map are Monument Valley, Cane Valley, Comb Ridge, Laguna Creek, Chinle Valley, Greasewood Flat, Carson Mesa, Dibe Chaa Valley, Lukachukai Wash, Toh Atin Mesa, Chezhindeza Mesa, Carrizo Mountains, Chuska Mountains, Lukachukai Mountains, and Redrock Valley.

Scale, 1:100,000 (1 inch = about 1.6 miles).  Contour interval = 50 meters.  Size: about 43 x 23½ inches.  Folded.  Paper.
