John N. Carr, Arizona Wildlife Viewing GuideA travel guide to wildlands in the state which are especially good places to watch wildlife. It covers 90 areas which are arranged within five major regions. Each entry describes the viewing area in a paragraph noting habitat and the most interesting species to be seen. Another paragraph gives specific information on viewing, plus a few additional lines give directions on how to get to the place. Symbols show basic types of wildlife in the area (e.g. songbirds, waterfowl, insects, hoofed mammals, fish, etc.). Other symbols show types of facilities and recreation available, and season (e.g. restrooms, picnic tables, handicapped accessible, camping, etc.). Excellent color photographs show some of the wildlife and habitats to be seen in the state, whetting your appetite to visit these beautiful and inspiring places.
This book is part of a series of many state Wildlife Viewing Guides put together by a unique partnership between public land management agencies and private organizations. This one was contributed to by Defenders of Wildlife, Arizona Game and Fish Department, Arizona State Parks Board, Bureau of Land Management, USDA Forest Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Reclamation, Arizona Department of Transportation, The Nature Conservancy, and more.
