This is a large two-sheet set. One sheet is the geologic map of Oregon itself, printed on one side only. The second sheet is the same size, but is printed on two sides; one side is a detailed legend explaining the symbols which indicate the types and ages of rock, the reverse lists references and keys them to an index map of the state showing the sources from which the map was compiled. The main map shows not only types of rock, but also fault lines and elevation contours. It even shows lines indicating the depth of ash deposited dozens of miles away from eruptions of ancient Mount Mazama—the volcano which preceded Crater Lake. Offshore depth contours indicate the form of the seabed. The images show samples of a portion of the map only, since we do not have one available showing the whole sheet.Scale, 1:500,000 (1 inch = about 7.9 miles). Contour interval: 500 feet.
