Official map produced cooperatively by the US Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management printed on two sides shows this region in southern Nevada west and northwest of Las Vegas. The area includes Mount Charleston (elevation 3632 meters or 11,918 feet) and the federal Wilderness Area of the same name. The map is on one side, and in addition to typical Forest Service coloration clearly distinguishing land ownership (BLM, Forest Service, Wilderness, Indian Reservations, etc.), it also shows topographic elevation contour lines. Also shown are trails, roads (clearly distinguished by class), railroads, Forest Service offices, mining activity, recreation sites, and more. Inset maps show details of Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive, Kyle Canyon, and Lee Canyon vicinities. A chart describes the facilities and seasons of 24 Forest Service recreation sites and 19 BLM recreation sites.The reverse side describes the areas in detail, covering heritage resources, fire safety, wilderness, hunting and shooting, safety, winter sports, backcountry recreation, climate, wildlife, camping, and more. About one dozen full color photos give you an idea of the spectacular landscape to be seen.

Almost half of the space is devoted to informative text and tables, which include names of coves of Lake Mead, a mileage table between selected points as accessed by boat, a four-state regional map showing major highways and the locations of national parks and monuments, information on programs and activities, safety suggestions, safe boating tips, Leave No Trace backcountry ethics, and an illustrated guide to storm warning flags and navigational aids.
