Acadia National Park
This map shows the entire region around Acadia National Park in Maine.  The park itself is not shown in very much detail.  Mount Desert Island, for example, where the main body of the park is located, measures only about three inches wide at this scale.  But as you can see in the image, it gives you a great overview of the Acadia-Penobscot Bay region, and includes the towns of Rockland, Thomaston, Camden, Belfast, Bucksport, and Ellsworth.  Topographic contours are shown at an interval of 50 feet (there is an error in the key on the map: it says the contour interval is 200 feet).

Scale: 1:250,000 (1 inch = about 4 miles).  Size: about 18½ x 12½ inches.
Published by Hubbard Scientific, 1992.
Item #HS-402.  Shipping weight: 3.0 lbs.  Publisher's price: $16.75.  Your price: $15.10
For Adirondack Park see the Specialty Raised Relief Maps section.  It is not described on this National Parks page because it is a state rather than national park.

 Death Valley National Monument
The Monument has been expanded since this map was made and given National Park status.  Most of the lands added to the park in the northwest are not shown, but all of the lands added on to the south portions are included.  Topographic contours are not shown, but in addition to the raised relief, gray shading emphasizes the shape of the mountains.  Visitor facilites and roads are clearly represented.

Scale: 1 inch = about 4.5 miles.  Size: about 21 x 25 inches.
Distributed by Hubbard Scientific, produced by Kistler, 1993.
Item #K-DV2125.  Shipping weight: 6.1 lbs.

Denali National Park and Preserve
A dramatic portrayal of the heart of Alaska's Denali National Park, including Mt. McKinley (Denali) the highest point in North America.  The map does not show the entire National Park (it leaves out some of the flatter portions around the edge) and despite the map's title, shows only a portion of the National Preserve of the same name.  But it does depict the most rugged areas, plus a large portion of adjacent lands outside the park along the Chulitna and Susitna rivers.

Topographic contours are given at 200 foot intervals, a green tint shows the extent of the forests, and glaciers are clearly visible.

Scale: 1:250,000 (1 inch = about 4 miles).  Size: about  30 x 24 inches.
Published by Hubbard Scientific, 1994.
Item #HS-401.  Shipping weight: 6.1 lbs.  Publisher's price: $29.00.  Your price: $26.10
 Glacier National Park
Based on USGS maps, this shows not only Montana's largest national park, but National Forest lands to the west.  Includes the Whitefish and Flathead Ranges of Flathead National Forest.  Also shows the towns of Kalispell, Whitefish, and Columbia Falls. The map shows topographic contours at 200 foot intervals.

Scale: 1:250,000 (1 inch = about 4 miles).  Size: 25 x 18½ inches.
Published by Hubbard Scientific, 1995 (based on 1984 USGS base map).

Grand Canyon National Park S Series
Covers practically the entire park and the surrounding plateaus and forests.  The main map does not show topographic contours, and is colored, based on "ERTS Satellite Photography."

The insets show more detail: One features South Rim Trails extending from the Hermit Trail to Grandview Trail and across the Colorado River to Phantom Ranch.  The other inset shows the North Kaibab Trail up Bright Angel Creek to the North Rim.  Both insets show topographic contours and have a gray shading to emphasize the relief.

Scale of main map:  1 inch = about 8 miles; scale of insets: 1 inch = about 1.2 miles.  Size: about 21 x 21 inches.

Mt. Rainier National Park
A regional map which extends far beyond the boundaries of Mt. Rainier National Park, Washington, to include Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams.  In fact, the national park is only about 5½ inches wide at this scale, with Mt. Rainier and its glaciers prominent.  The map also includes Goat Rocks Wilderness and the Cowlitz River valley, much of the area a part of Gifford Pinchot and Snoqualmie national forests.  Topographic contours show elevation at 200-foot intervals.  Green tint shows the extent of the forested areas.  A line extending northward from Mt. St. Helens shows the impact area of the eruptions.

Sequoia / Kings Canyon National Park Area Map
The jointly managed National Parks of the southern Sierra Nevada are shown along with a generous amount of adjacent territory.  Particular striking are the 4,000-6,000 foot deep canyons of the Kings River, and the Sierra Escarpment bordering Owens Valley.  The latter is claimed to be the deepest in the world since there is 10,000 feet elevation difference between the valley floor and the higher peaks, including Mt. Whitney.  The peaks, creeks, rivers, valleys, towns, and roads are clearly labeled.  Towns shown include Exeter and Woodlake on the edge of the San Joaquin Valley, and Bishop, Big Pine, Independence, and Lone Pine in the Owens.  The map shows topographic contours at 200 foot intervals.

Scale: 1:250,000 (1 inch = about 4 miles).  Size: about 18 x 25 inches.

Shenandoah National Park
The long and skinny Virginia national park stretches across this map from lower left to upper right, leaving plenty of room to include the surrounding areas.  Also shows the Massanutten Mountain area of George Washington National Forest, the Shenandoah River valley, and the cities and towns of Wayneboro, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Elkton, Woodstock, Luray, and Front Royal.  A piece of West Virginia is in the upper left corner.  Topographic contours mark elevations at 100-foot intervals.  Forested lands are shown with a green tint.

Scale: 1:250,000 (1 inch = about 4 miles).  Size: about 12½ x 18½ inches.

Yellowstone National Park (topo)
Detailed map of the grand old park dominating the northwest corner of Wyoming and spilling over into adjacent Idaho and Montana.  Significant areas of the surrounding national forests are also shown.  Topographic contours show elevation at 200-foot intervals; green tints show the extent of the forests.

Scale: 1:250,000 (1 inch = about 4 miles).  Size: about 18½ x 25 inches.
Item #HS-419.  Shipping weight: 5.0 lbs.  Publisher's price: $19.75.  Your price: $17.75     (Out of stock; unlikely to restock until summer or later)

Yellowstone National Park "S Series"
This map is a little bit larger in scale than the preceding and is easier to read for those who are not well-versed at interpreting maps.  Only the lands within the park are shown.  The form of the mountains and extent of the valleys are emphasized by relief shading (in addition to the raised relief).  Some of the maps produced by Kistler (distributed by Hubbard) are, in my opinion, poorly colored, but this time they really did a great job!

Scale: about 1:235,000 (1 inch = about 3.7 miles).  Size: about 21 x 22 inches.
Disributed by Hubbard Scientific, produced by Kistler, 1992.

Yosemite National Park Area Map
California's most renowned National Park is shown in detail in this map, based on USGS quads.  Significant portions of Toiyabe, Sierra, and Inyo National Forests are also shown.  Major peaks, creeks, rivers, and valleys are all labeled, along with major cultural features such as roads and towns.  The map shows topographic contours at 200 foot intervals.

Scale: 1:250,000 (one inch = about 4 miles).  Size: about 12½ x 18½ inches.
Published by Hubbard Scientific, 1982.
