"A basic course in spoken Bengali, with emphasis upon speaking and understanding the language." You would need assistance from a fluent Bengali speaker to make the best use of this book, since many of the initial lessons are best learned with the use of audio tapes not supplied. The book does give pronunciation guidance, and if you are trying to learn Bengali, it will be helpful. The lessons in the second half of the book allow you to learn the Bengali script.
