Printed on one side only, the map employs elevation contours to show the form of the land.  Distinct color tints show responsible managing agencies: Green for Forest Service, orange for Indian lands, blue for state lands, dark blue for county and city parks, yellow for BLM, pink for military reservations, purple for National Monuments; federal Wilderness areas are outlined in grey.  A brown pattern shows sandy areas.  Shows rivers, streams, creeks, washes, canals, springs, and wells.  Township and section lines are marked.  Roads of all classes are depicted (but only US and state highways are numbered).  Shows major power lines, caves, mine shafts, mines and quarries, and gravel pits; railroads, landing strips and more.  Recreation areas are highlighted with special symbols.  (See sample below.)

Major cities on the map include a small piece of Phoenix, southern Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Buckhorn, Apache Junction, and Gilbert.  Towns on the map, include Higley, Chandler Heights, Sacaton, Florence, Superior, and Cochran.  Tonto National Forest covers the northeast corner, with most of the Superstition Wilderness depicted.  The Gila River Indian Reservation covers the southwest corner of the map.  Hohokam Pima National Monument is also mapped.

The main highways on the map are Interstate 10, US 60, US 89, state 88, state 93, state 87, state 187, state 387, state 287, and state 177.  The area is divided between Maricopa and Pima counties.

Physical features on the map include Salt River, Gila River, Santan Mountains, Sacaton Mountains, Goldfield Mountains, Superstition Mountains, Queen Creek, and Box Canyon.
