Rand McNally Boston, Massachusetts, Local Street Detail Comprehensive street map of the Boston region, printed on two sides. Also shows all or most of Arlington, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Dedham, Everett, Lexington, Malden, Medford, Milton, Needham, Newton, Quincy, Revere, Somerville, Waltham, Watertown, and Winchester. One side shows most of the region, the reverse shows the far eastern suburbs. An inset on the reverse shows a detail of downtown Boston; another inset shows the major roads of the region, including Cape Cod and Rhode Island. A comprehensive index helps you locate the thousands of streets on the map, as well as other features shown such as schools, parks, cemetaries, libraries, hospitals and other places.Like other new street maps I've been seeing, a surprising number of the streets are not labeled---perhaps 2%. This seems to be a new problem in street maps created with computerized systems, which apparently have not worked out all the bugs. For example, neither street in Boston where I once lived are labeled on the map, though they are drawn. On the other hand, they list these unlabeled streets on the index! This would at least enable one to figure out the neighborhood where the streets are located, and you would have to then search around a few blocks to find them. A plus is that the type for the vast majority of the streets which are labeled is a bit larger and easier to read than the typical city street map's tiny print, though still small.
Scale, about 1:21,540 (1 inch = about 1/3 mile). Size: about 36 x 44½ inches. Folded. Paper.
