Maps of Europe

K+F Europe Road Map, Physical Edition
Road and reference map of Europe, the Mediterranean shores of North Africa, and the Near East (including Iraq and most of Iran).  Printed on one side only.  Mountains are shown in shaded relief, with color tints imitating the natural coloration of forests, steppe, desert, and cultivated areas.  The cities and countries are labelled in that nation's own language: Roma and Italia, for example, rather than Rome and Italy.  (The native alphabets are not used, however, so you do not have to puzzle over Greek, Arabic, Cyrrilic, or other writing systems.)

Although major and intermediate roads are shown, they are not named or numbered, so this is not a map you would use to drive around Europe yourself, though it would give you a great overview if you were travelling by bus, train, or plane.  An inset shows Iceland at the same scale as the main map.

Scale, 1:4,500,000 (1 inch = about 71 miles).  Size: about 49 x 38 inches.  Folded.  Paper, with card cover.
Published by Kümmerly + Frey, Switzerland, 2007-2009 edition.  New.
Item #KF-EUR.  Shipping weight: 0.6 lb.  Publisher's price: $14.95.  Your closeout price: $7.45 (One copy left)

Map Link  Rail Map of Europe
Printed on one side only, this map is your guide to getting around Europe via passenger rail, ships, and (when rail is not available) buses.  It covers the British Isles (except westernmost Ireland), continental Europe as far east as the German-Polish border and Praha (Prague), with coverage farther east in southern Europe (extending east to Romania, Bulgaria, and Greece).  It also shows routes in far western Turkey, and northern Africa from Morocco to Tunisia.  An inset shows Switzerland in more detail.

But the map does not just show routes: It gives you an idea of frequency (number of trips per day), approximate departure times, and trip times.

The map omits all roads, and about the only details shown are important cities and towns, national boundaries, and water features.  Latitude and longitude lines are provided at 5 degree intervals.  The legend explains symbols in English, German, French, Swedish, and Japanese.

Scale, 1:4,125,000 (1 inch = about 65 miles).  Size: about 39 x 27 inches.  Folded.  Paper.
Published by Map Link, 2006 (dated 2007).  New.
Item #ML-EUR-RAIL.  Shipping weight: 0.3 lb.  Publisher's price: $8.95.  Your closeout price: $4.45 (One copy left)
