National Geographic Central America Political Wall Map
Beautifully detailed wall map in traditional National Geographic style.  Central America is geographically a portion of North America, but this map shows the region at larger scale.  Mountains are indicated in shaded relief, the borders of each nation are  emphasized with a distinct color tint.  Shows numerous cities and towns, major roads and railways, airports, National Parks, oil fields, ruins, and more.  There is a list of Spanish-English geographical equivalents, too.  Also includes most of the island of Jamaica.  Elevations and soundings are in meters.  Lines of latitude and longitude are provided at 3 degree intervals.

The white border appears skewed in the image, but it is actually quite even.  The map was photographed at a slight angle, and the uneven appearance of the margin was the result.

Detailed travel map printed on two sides.  On one side is the northern part of the region, including Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and northern Nicaragua.  Extreme southern Mexico is also covered on this side.  On the reverse side is the remainder of the region: the south part of Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.  Insets show more detail of the Panama Canal area, Isla del Coco, the Environs of San Jose, and Isla de San Andres.

The map shows international and provincial boundaries.  Color tints show the major elevation levels.  Paved and unpaved roads, primary and secondary roads are clearly distinguished.  Also shows railways, ferry routes, and canals.  Active volcanoes, national parks, airports, points of interest, ruins, lighthouses, mines, beaches, gas stations and more.  Color photos give a flavor of what you may see in the region.  Cities and towns are indexed.  Notes give you an overview of the history of the area.  The legend explains symbols in both English and Spanish.

Nelles Maps  Central America, Costa Rica travel map
Detailed travel map printed on two sides.  On one side is depicted the northern part of the region, plus all of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.  This side goes as far south as San Salvador.  The reverse side continues the coverage south and east through Panama.  A large inset map shows Costa Rica at almost double the scale of the main map.

Detailed shaded relief shows the form of the mountains, a green tint indicates the lowlands.  Roads of several different classes are clearly distinguished; point to point distances on many highways are indicated in kilometers.  Also shown are railways, airports, national parks, places of interest, archaeological sites, beaches, peaks, and more.

There are several insets: These show details of Tikal, Ciudad de Guatemala, Lago de Atitlan, Antigua Guatemala, Palenque, Merida, Campeche, Uxmal, Chichen Itza, Isla Mujeres, Isla Cozumel, Tulum, Copan, Central San Jose, and Isla del Coco.  The legend explains map symbols in English, German, French, and Spanish.
