Printed on one side only, the map employs elevation contours to show the form of the land.  A solid green tint shows the extent of woodlands.  A brown  tint shows strip mined areas, brown dots sandy places.  Shows rivers, streams, creeks, washes, springs, and lakes.  Township and section lines are marked.  Roads of all classes are depicted (but only US and state highways are numbered).  Shows major power lines, pipe lines, wind mills, landing strips, campgrounds and more.  (See sample below.)

Towns and communities marked include Kayenta, Shonto, Tsegi, and Chilchinbito.  The entire region is within the Navajo Reservation.  The three units of Navajo National Monument are indicated.  The main roads on the map are US 160, US 163, state 564, and state 98.  The left side is within Coconino County, the right side in Navajo County, with a very narrow strip at upper right within San Juan County, Utah.

Important physical features included are Navajo Creek, Gray Mesa, Kaibito Plateau, Piute Canyon, Geshi Canyon, Shonto Plateau, Klethla Valley, Long House Valley, Nokai Canyon, Skeleton Mesa, Tyende Mesa, El Capitan Flat, Black Mesa, Monument Valley, Little Capitan Valley, Church Rock Valley, and Baby Rocks Mesa.

Scale, 1:100,000 (1 inch = about 1.6 miles).  Contour interval = 50 meters.  Size: about 43 x 24 inches.  Folded.  Paper.
