Travel and reference map printed on one side only. Topographic contours are emphasized by graduated color tints so you can readily distinguish the height of the land. Curiously, the map does not cover 100% of the country: In several border areas, the map’s supplementary text boxes cover up a small but significant part of the land of Iraq. Shows cities and towns, airports, roads, oil fields, and dams. Also includes all of Kuwait.A general street map of central Baghdad is included in an inset. There are eight color photos depicting Iraqi life and architecture. Text describes the history of the region, with additional notes on the geography of Baghdad and Basra.
As to the accuracy of the map, a statement from the publisher indicates that it has been compiled from sources outside the country, and has not been field checked. “This map has been prepared with internationally available information without ground truthing.” However, this appears to be the largest scale single-sheet map of the country commercially available.
Scale, 1:1,200,000 (1 inch = about 19 miles). Contour interval: 100 and 200 meters. Size: about 27 x 39 inches. Folded. Paper.
