Richard and Sherry Mangum, Flagstaff Historic Walk: A Stroll Through Old Downtown
This pocket guidebook gives you a building-by-building tour of the historic downtown of Flagstaff. Many of the buildings are depicted in historic and contemporary photos, some dating back to the 1880s. Includes a map of the downtown with each building labeled. (This bookstore was located in the Nackard building, built in 1922, and which once contained Flagstaff's fourth post office.) The Mangums are excellent guides on this subject, since they have been leading guided walks of this same downtown area (while dressed in historic costume) for years.

Richard & Sherry Mangum, Flagstaff: Past & Present
Foreword by Bruce Babbitt
An excellent and absorbing photographic account of the history and development of Flagstaff.  The Mangums, well-known and respected locally for their history walks and series of trail and history guidebooks, are a wonderful team, and have presented a highly readable and browseable book packed with fascinating anecdotes, and often pairing historic photos with modern day images.  If you love Flagstaff and are the least bit interested in its past, don’t pick up this book if you have other things you should be doing, for it is hard to put down!  Yet, if you get caught in it nonetheless, you will not feel that your time has been ill-spent, but will come away with a deeper appreciation of the changes that have occurred and are occurring in our mountain town.  This is a classic case of delightful entertainment that is educational as well.

Richard and Sherry Mangum, Grand Canyon-Flagstaff Stage Coach Line: A History & Exploration Guide
"This meticulously researched book presents the story of the stagecoach line that opened the Grand Canyon to the world and made Flagstaff the Gateway to the Grand Canyon. From 1892 until the close of the 1900 season, the coaches rolled out every summer for a seventy-mile trip was taken by hundreds, who could scarcely believe what they saw at journey's end. In the 100 years since then, many of the old roads and landmarks have disappeared, only to be re-discovered by the Mangums.
"More than a history, the book is an exploration guide, with detailed maps and descriptions that guide readers by car, bike and foot along the famous old stage coach routes and points of interest."
I particularly enjoy the abundance of historic photos (some matched up with contemporary photos of the same scene) and period maps in this wonderful book.
