This area, though trisected with shallow inland seas, had already formed many of the features we know today, such as the Rocky Mountains and the Appalachians. The map discretely superimposes contemporary shorelines and state and national boundaries for reference. A little over two dozen of the more spectacular dinosaurs roaming the land, seas, and skies of this time have been reconstructed in life-like detail, and are briefly decribed in marginal notes.
