Beautifully detailed topographic map printed on two sides. One side shows the east side of the country, the reverse shows the west. The map clearly shows major and minor roads, paths, railroads, forested areas, swamps, and various types of protected areas (wildlife refuges, parks, wetlands, reserves, etc.) Topographic contours show elevations at 100 meter intervals (they are clear yet subtly drawn so as not to be intrusive), and the form of the landscape is enhanced with relief shading. See sample at right. An inset shows street details of the city of San Jose. Another inset shows all of Central America. Indices help you locate the various protected areas and selected towns. A large corner of the map is devoted to information on the area. The main maps also show significant parts of western Panama and southern Nicaragua. The legend explains symbols in English and Spanish.
