The map is all on one side, the reverse is dedicated to the index to cities, towns, and places of interest to travelers.Subtle relief shading on the map gives an idea of the location of the mountainous and hilly areas in the country. The map clearly distinguishes main, secondary, and "other" roads, and includes point-to-point distances along main roads in kilometers. Also shows railways, international and regional airports, and places of special interest such as ancient sites, museum/heritage sites, religious sites, monuments/historic buildings, cultural centres, ethnic reserves, national parks, bird reserves, animals reserves, botanic gardens, scenic areas, viewpoints, beaches, and other places.
An inset shows a schematic map of the nation with air, bus, and ferry times between 13 important cities. A table shows distances in kilometers between these same places. Four other insets give major street details of four cities: Brasilia, Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paulo. No detail is provided for neighboring nations. The legend explains symbols in English, French, German, Italian, and Japanese.
