The town of Bluff is smack in the center of this map. The San Juan River runs from the southeast corner through the middle, and includes San Juan Canyon and The Goosenecks. The town of Mexican Hat is on the left side; other communities in this sparsely populated region are Montezuma Creek, Aneth, White Mesa Village, Red Lake Village, and White Rock Curve Village. Major roads marked include US 163, state highways 126, 316, 261, and 262.
The lower part of the map is dominated by the northern section of the Navajo Indian Reservation. Small parts of Ute Mountain Reservation are also on the map.Physical features shown include Cedar Mesa, Valley of the Gods, Fish Creek, Comb Ridge, Chinle Creek, Gothic Creek, Casa del Eco Mesa, Bluff Bench, McCracken Mesa, Cajon Mesa, and White Mesa.
All but the far right one-and-a-half inch strip of the map are in Utah, all a part of San Juan County. The right edge is in Colorado, a part of Montezuma County.
