Arkansas Maps & Atlases
DeLorme Arkansas Atlas & GazetteerAn atlas of 43 topographic maps covering the entire state, gives you the details not afforded by your standard road map. Elevation contours at about 100-foot intervals are plotted, and are enhanced with shaded relief to give you a better idea of where the hills are. Shows major and secondary highways, county roads, even streets in cities, towns and outlying subdivisions (though the scale is too small for any but major streets to be labeled—this atlas is no substitute for a set of street maps if you need city street detail). Also shows railroads, abandoned railroads, powerlines, major trails, county boundaries, park and forest lands, woodlands, and military reservations. Further detailed are airports, wetlands, dams, springs, points of interest, peaks, mines or quarries, hospitals, information centers, boat launch sites, campgrounds, and more. The maps are gridded with lines of latitude and longitude for the benefit of GPS users.
The eight-page gazetteer section of the atlas gives brief descriptions or charts on features in these subject areas (which are also shown on the atlas maps): Attractions, Biking, Campgrounds, Fishing, Golf Courses, Hiking, Historic Sites, Hunting, National Lands, Float Trips, Scenic Drives, State Lands, and Unique Natural Features. A ten-page index helps you find place names on the map. In addition, there is a two-page highway map of the entire state with a mileage table which helps you plan longer trips.
Scale of atlas maps, 1:200,000 (1 inch = about 3.2 miles). Contour interval = about 100 feet.
