Color tints show surface management status, i.e. the managing government agencies of public lands: Indian reservations are shown in orange, BLM lands in yellow, military reservations in pink, National Monuments in purple; National Wildlife Refuges in green; private lands are untinted. Shows washes, springs, wells and tanks (stock ponds). Township and section lines are marked. Roads of all classes are depicted (state highways are numbered). Shows mine shafts, mines and quarries, and gravel pits; campgrounds, other recreation sites, and more. (See sample below.) The only real town on the map is Ajo; the communities shown on the map include Why, Schuchuli, Hickiwan, Vaya Chin, Ventana, Anegam, San Luis, Gu Achi, Ali Oidak, Wahak Hotrontk, Maish Vaya, Peach Pu, and Kaihon Kug.The area is dominated by Papago Indian Reservation (Tohono O'odham Nation) in the eastern two-thirds. A portion of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument lies in the southwest corner, and a piece of Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge in the northwest. A small portion of the Barry M. Goldwater Air Force Range.
