Utica, New York regional raised relief map

Hubbard Scientific Utica, New York regional raised relief map
This three-dimensional vinyl map shows central New York state, with about half of the area covered within the bounds of mountainous Adirondack State Park (on the right side); much of the rest of the region is bumped with low rolling hills and bluffs.  The east end of Oneida Lake is prominent at lower left, most of Sacandaga Reservoir likewise prominent at lower right.  The title city of Utica is left of center near the bottom margin.

Maps in this series show elevation contours, with a green tint showing the extent of woodlands.  Water features such as lakes, ponds, creeks, marshes, canals, and shorelines (where present) are indicated in detail.  Shows roads and highways of all classes, and sometimes trails.  Railroads are also shown.  National, state, provincial, and county boundaries are demarcated, as are other boundaries such as parks and wildlife refuges.  Other features shown in this series are mines, airstrips and airports, isolated landmark buildings, lookout towers, and more.  The maps are lined with the UTM grid at 1000 meter intervals.

Few the maps in this series are recently published.  The manufacturer, Hubbard Scientific, uses data from the US Geological Survey, but USGS rarely updates any of the maps in this series; most use data 20 to 40 years old.  You get them for the depiction of the topography, which rarely changes, not for current roads and city boundaries.  In fact, many of them have an added appeal for their historical interest.  See below for date of the map described on this page.
