Regional Raised Relief Maps ![]() Hubbard Scientific Scranton, Pennsylvania regional raised relief map This three-dimensional vinyl map shows a section of northeastern Pennsylvania, southeastern New York, and northern New Jersey. The left half of the map shows Pennsylvania, about 1/8th shows New Jersey, and the remaining 3/8th shows New York. The Delaware River zig-zags down the center of the map. The Moosic Mountains are in the left middle quarter, with the title city of Scranton near them. The southern end of the Catskills are in the upper right corner.
Maps in this series show elevation contours, with a green tint showing the extent of woodlands. Water features such as lakes, ponds, creeks, marshes, canals, and shorelines (where present) are indicated in detail. Shows roads and highways of all classes, and sometimes trails. Railroads are also shown. National, state, provincial, and county boundaries are demarcated, as are other boundaries such as parks and wildlife refuges. Other features shown in this series are mines, airstrips and airports, isolated landmark buildings, lookout towers, and more. The maps are lined with the UTM grid at 1000 meter intervals.
Few maps in this series are recently published. The manufacturer, Hubbard Scientific, uses data from the US Geological Survey, but USGS rarely updates any of the maps in this series; most use data 20 to 40 years old. You get them for the depiction of the topography, which rarely changes, not for current roads and city boundaries. In fact, many of them have an added appeal for their historical interest. See below for date of the map described on this page.
