Regional Raised Relief Maps ![]() Hubbard Scientific Preston, Idaho regional raised relief map This three-dimensional vinyl map shows the southeastern corner of Idaho and a section of western Wyoming, about evenly divided between the two states. The area includes the northern end of the Wasatch Range running north to south in the left quarter, and the Salt River and Wyoming ranges, which are more or less parallel and also north-south oriented in the upper right third of the map.
Maps in this series show elevation contours, with a green tint showing the extent of woodlands. Water features such as lakes, ponds, creeks, marshes, canals, and shorelines (where present) are indicated in detail. Shows roads and highways of all classes, and sometimes trails. Railroads are also shown. National, state, provincial, and county boundaries are demarcated, as are other boundaries such as parks and wildlife refuges. Other features shown in this series are mines, airstrips and airports, isolated landmark buildings, lookout towers, and more. The maps are lined with the UTM grid at 1000 meter intervals.
Few the maps in this series are recently published. The manufacturer, Hubbard Scientific, uses data from the US Geological Survey, but USGS rarely updates any of the maps in this series; most use data 20 to 40 years old. You get them for the depiction of the topography, which rarely changes, not for current roads and city boundaries. In fact, many of them have an added appeal for their historical interest. See below for date of the map described on this page.
