Escalante, Utah-Arizona 1:100,000 scale topo map

BLM Escalante, Utah, Surface Management Status, metric topographic map
Printed on one side only, the map employs elevation contours to show the form of the land.  Distinct color tints show the land management agencies responsible for the lands in the quadrangle: Yellow for Bureau of Land Management (BLM), with a darker yellow-orange for Wilderness Study Areas within BLM lands; purple for National Park Service, green for National Forest (with Wilderness Areas a darker green), blue for state lands, pink for Bankhead-Jones Land Use Land; private lands are untinted.

Shows rivers, streams, creeks, washes,  springs, and wells.  Township and section lines are marked.  Roads of all classes are depicted (with US and state highways, and Forest Service roads numbered).  Shows major power lines, caves, mines and quarries, landing strips and more.  Special symbols mark recreation sites (numbered and keyed to a chart showing activities and facilities available at each), trailheads, Forest Service facilities, and the location of natural arches.  (See sample below.)

The only towns and communities on the map are Henrieville, Escalante, and Boulder Town.  The region is dominated by the north part of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.  A large section of Dixie National Forest is shown (with Box Death Wilderness within it fully depicted), as are also portions of Capitol Reef National Park and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.  Part of Kodachrome Basin State Reserve is shown, and all of Escalante Petrifed Forest State Park.  Important highways on the map are state 12 and Hole in the Rock Road Scenic Backway.

Prominent physical features labelled include Johns Valley, Escalante Mountains, Upper Valley, Death Ridge, Kaiparowits Plateau, Straight Cliffs, Fiftymile Bench, Calf Creek, Death Hollow, The Gulch, Horse Canyon, Escalante River, Circle Cliffs, and Waterpocket Fold.

Most of the area is within Garfield County, with a small trip of Kane County across the bottom.

Scale, 1:100,000 (1 inch = about 1.6 miles).  Contour interval = 50 meters.  Size: about 43½ x 27 inches.  Folded.  Paper.
