Towns and communities marked are Monticello, Blanding, Verdure, and Northdale. A large part of the area is within Manti La Sal National Forest, including upper parts of Dark Canyon Wilderness. The east half of Natural Bridges National Monument is shown, as is the southernmost part of Canyonlands National Park. The BLM land on the map contain parts of these designated areas: Canyon of the Ancients National Monument, Dark Canyon Wilderness Study Area, and Grand Gulch Primitive Area. Major highways are US 191, US 666, state 95, state 211, state 261, and state 275. Most of the map is within San Juan County, Utah with a strip about two miles wide at the right within Colorado, divided between San Miguel and Dolores counties.Major physical features include Dark Canyon, South Elk Ridge, White Mesa, Mustang Mesa, Abajo Mountains, Devil Canyon, Montezuma Canyon, Cedar Point, Monument Canyon, and Lake Canyon Point.
